Christmas in Savannah
Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman was so captivated by Savannah in December of 1864 that he spared the city from destruction during his fiery March to the Sea. On Christmas Eve, he sent his famous telegram to President Lincoln stating "I beg to present you as a Christmas Gift, the City of Savannah..."
Today, the city still captivates visitors in December and The Gastonian is one of the most special places to visit. Traditional holiday hors d'oeuvres are served and the Inn's holiday finery sparkles around the warmth of fireplaces.
