The welcoming facade of The Gastonian

EXPERIENCE

The Gastonian is a dream come true for travelers who desire pampering services, luxurious guest rooms, and historic homes with authentic vintage details. Bordered by Savannah’s South Historic District and East Victorian District, The Gastonian's location is integral to its appeal, offering guests a comfortable place to stay that is both charmingly residential and central to Savannah's popular historic sites

Guests of The Gastonian get to experience first-hand the unforgettable charm of an elegant, historic Savannah home. Built in 1868, the two adjacent mansions feature white stucco in clean-lined Regency Italianate style. And with dramatic balconies and fragrant gardens where time stands still, it’s no wonder The Gastonian is consistently named one of the best small, romantic inns in the USA, and recognition in the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List.

Fresh & refined
DELIGHTFUL DINING

At The Gastonian, guests are treated to an elevated continental breakfast from 7:30–10 am every morning, with a daily Chef’s Special, prepared to order. Awaken at your leisure to enjoy your meal in the dining room at a private table or under the pergola.

As the afternoon hours wane, we invite you to gather for complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine from 5-6:30 pm. Wind down from the day with delectable desserts, coffee, and cordials from 8-10 pm each evening.

Guests of The Gastonian are welcome to all three complimentary receptions:

7:30 – 10 am: Extended made-to-order breakfast

5 – 6:30 pm: Wind down with wine & hors d'oeuvres

Please note that at The Gastonian, we honor an Adults-Only Policy. While we love little ones, our specialty is hosting couples for an anniversary together or other travelers seeking respite. Fortunately, our sister hotel will gladly host you and your family – including pets! East Bay Inn is the perfect fit if you're traveling with anyone under the age of 21.

For better or worse
AUTHENTICALLY HISTORIC

The two buildings that comprise The Gastonian were built in 1868 and are registered with the Historic Savannah Foundation as authentic historic properties. Consistent with the architectural norms of the time of construction, there are many steps inside and outside – which some guests with mobility issues will find challenging.

If you are concerned about navigating the steps, let’s work together to select a room that will work for you: Give us a call at (912) 232-2869 and we'll talk through the layout of the rooms available during your stay. Or, if you prefer a historic hotel with an elevator, we are happy to assist with reservations at our sister properties that do have an elevator: East Bay Inn or Kehoe House.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge The Gastonian was built upon Muscogee Creek ancestral land. As settlers on their indigenous homeland, we have a duty to recognize the Muscogee Creek nation as the original stewards of Savannah and beyond. The Muscogee Nation is one of the 5 Civilized Tribes and is the fourth largest tribe in the US. Before 1500 AD, the Muscogee covered the entire southeastern US.

Here in downtown Savannah, the Yamacraw were a small group of Creek Indians living on the Savannah River. When Oglethorpe landed here in 1733, he worked with the Yamacraw (Chief Tomochichi) to peacefully settle on the bluff where Bay Street is today.

It is our hope that this land acknowledgment will help empower First Nation voices and inspire others in the community to pursue a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable future for our country. We seek to educate ourselves while contributing to the Muscogee Creek peoples by raising awareness and learning how to be a better ally against continued colonization.
